Over the years, we’ve seen a number of department stores close down, including Carrefour and Robinsons.
And while we may not visit these large-scale department stores all the time, there’s no denying that shopping (or window shopping) in these stores is largely an interesting and enjoyable experience for most of us.
Unfortunately, we’re about to lose another iconic store outlet that’s been with us for the past 38 years.
Isetan Parkway Parade Outlet to Close in March
Isetan Singapore announced the closure of its Parkway Parade outlet, commonly known as their Katong outlet, last August.
This was also when they confirmed that they would not be extending their lease due to how negotiations with the landlord “did not yield a positive result”.
The outlet first opened in December 1983, making it the Japanese department store’s third outlet in Singapore.
Closing Down Sales and Events
As part of their closing down sales, the company has posted on social media about their various discounts.
The sale lasts until 23 January, so do be fast if you’d like to redeem the promotion coupons!
There are also special discounts for items such as bedsheets, which is perfect if you haven’t bought your new bedsheets for the upcoming Chinese New Year. (Or if you just want new bedsheets.)
The discounts can go up to a few hundred dollars, so definitely don’t miss this chance to make your money’s worth.
Apart from that, the company is also holding a Katong Memory Lane contest, from which you can win Isetan vouchers while reminiscing the good memories of the past. The contest is in its second round and will end on 30 January.
Additionally, Isetan will be holding livestreams on their Facebook page to give out gift vouchers.

With the closure of the Parkway Parade outlet, Isetan still has three other outlets in Singapore at Shaw House, NEX and Tampines Mall, so there’s no worry for now if you’d still like to head down to an Isetan store in the future.
