According to research conducted by cats in the Goody Feed office, Netflix’s viewership in Singapore has fallen by about 86% since 8 Oct.
It spiked in the second half of September thanks to Squid Game, but then viewers discovered another program that was much more entertaining: real life.
Yes, instead of spending hours on Netflix trying to decide what to watch, viewers here have been tuning into the NOC Saga, a drama thriller starring NOC employees and its co-founders Sylvia Chan and Ryan Tan.
Most of the episodes have been broadcast on the now infamous Instagram page @sgcickenrice, with others shared on YouTube and even Facebook.
Unfortunately, it seems that the main broadcaster of the NOC saga has removed all the episodes of season 1, right after a response from one of the saga’s protagonists.
Ryan’s Response
It all started with Ryan’s official response to Sylvia’s allegations, which was published on his Instagram account yesterday (27 Oct).

For those who missed it, Sylvia did a nearly two-hour interview with Xiaxue on Monday (25 Oct), where she responded to the allegations against her and made some of her own (many of them were aimed at a certain co-founder.)
In the video, she speculated that the NOC saga may be linked to a legal dispute between Ryan and her, and that Ryan could be behind the exposé.
Ryan addressed these allegations in his response, which you can read more about here. In short, he said that he is not involved in any way with chicken rice (the Instagram account) nor the blog where numerous former and current NOC employees had published allegations against Syliva.
“Many lies were peddled during the interview, but I will continue not to discuss our personal issues,” he said.
Something uncanny happened after that, though.
IG Platform That Leaked Sylvia’s Texts Suddenly Removed All Content After Ryan’s Response
If you cast your mind back to Episode 3 of the NOC Saga: Sylvia Fights Back, you’d remember that @sgcickenrice removed all its NOC-related posts after it received a lawyer’s letter over the allegations.
The posts were later put back up after the national dish lawyered up, but guess what happened now?
That’s right, @sgcickenrice has once again removed all of its posts except one:
“We will not be posting any further on NOC,” it said. “We are doing this voluntarily”.
“We hope all parties involved will be able to solve their issues amicably and move on with their lives,” it added.
As some netizens noted, this abrupt decision came after Ryan’s lengthy response on Instagram. And commenters weren’t pleased, to say the least.
Interestingly, the blog has also removed all of its posts.
What does this tell us? Absolutely nothing. And we’re not just saying that because we don’t want a lawyer’s letter of our own (okay maybe we are).
In any case, since Ryan directly contradicted many of the things Sylvia said in her post, we could perhaps expect another two-hour interview on YouTube, maybe this time hosted by someone less controversial, like Amos Yee.
